Natasha Mwansa is a writer and filmmaker from London, working mainly in surrealist drama and experimental narratives. Her directorial debut ‘Damian’ was commissioned by the Barbican and released in December 2020. She was also part of the BBC Comedy Writersroom 2020/21 cohort.
As a Part of the residency program Natasha endevoreded to create a short called “ To Sleepwalk”, an intimate portrayal of a woman with a dissociative disorder rooted in troubling family dynamics. This 10-minute film follows a woman named Neve who believes she’s been sleepwalking. It begins with a confrontation between Neve and her estranged father’s new wife. Neve comes to understand that despite her and her mother having been a victim of her father’s abuse, his new wife seems happy and loved. From here she unravels.
