We are thrilled to announce a sound artist commission for a new collaborative work, Flying/Falling. Details below. Please post in your personal/professional networks, and let anyone know who you think might be interested!
Background
Satellite Films working in partnership with contemporary circus company Upswing and participatory arts company Entelechy have been commissionedby Big Dance and Channel 4 to make a short film as part of Channel 4 ‘s Random Acts. The commission is one of five in a strand that has been designed to showcase exciting choreographic and directorial collaborations on screen. The Big Dance Shorts will focus on film ideas that engage actively and creatively with dance and celebrate a decade of Big Dance with the theme: Dance Decades.
Flying/Falling
Poetic and whimsical, the film draws a parallel between the experience of older people living in isolation and those living and working in space. The work will explore technology, ageing and our physical environment. Lead artists on the project are visual artist Edwin Mingard and Vicki Amedume of aerial dance company Upswing. The work will be developed in collaboration with older artists working within Entelechy Arts and the Albany’s Meet Me at the Albany programme.
The Brief
We are looking for a film sound artist to undertake a short collaborative residency to create and deliver a sound score for the three minute work. The artist will be required to work in a collaborative manner and to produce a stereo mix down to broadcast specifications. We anticipate that the work will be musical but it need not be a piece of music.
FEE: £500
