Background:
We are hiring a production coordinator for our project, H is for Hostile Environment. The film is an A-Z compendium film about the UK’s hostile environment, made up of circa 26 short films, by local filmmakers and participants with lived experience of the UK border regime, based in East London. It is directed by Edwin Mingard, produced by Elizabeth Benjamin, and co-produced by Keren Weitzberg (UCL). The project is co-funded by ACE and UCL.
As a production coordinator, you will maintain commissioner/partner and editorial crew relations, work alongside the lead producer to review budgets, schedules, and have the ability to troubleshoot technical and workflow issues. The role involves being both assertive and diplomatic in interacting with a team that is dynamic and diverse while remaining strongly aligned to satellite films' culture.
A solid background in film production and post-production is required to be considered for this role, as is a genuine and demonstrable interest in both artist films and independent social issue projects. We recommend you read up about the project itself via the link above.
The role will require flexibility over 3 months of work from 26 Feb - 31 May 2021 and will involve working remotely/from home. The fee of £2,650 works out at roughly 6 days a month @£147/day.
Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Together with the producer, help manage the production schedule, liaising with the editor, sound designer, sound mixer, grader, and all of the filmmakers involved.
Provide notes on post-production requirements, flagging any potential issues
Track and manage all post related costs, keeping the producer appraised of the status
Work with filmmakers to ensure a smooth & friendly experience of working with satellite - Assist producer with search and hire of key post crew
Troubleshoot and communicate any post scheduling changes to internal/external teams
Set up key creative appraisal sessions where required such as final mix playbacks, color correction reviews, etc
Schedule and oversee the invitation of filmmakers and partners to 3 London film premiere and special event screenings
Submit the film to select film festivals
Complete and obtain approvals over a final production/press pack including full credits and bios for all filmmakers and participants
Qualifications:
4 Years+ experience as producer/production coordinator with experience working on independent projects with responsibility for overseeing post production
Experience working on low budget film/art film projects
Confident but patient, self-aware communication style, able to build relationships within a diverse team
Familiar with current workflows for HDR, 4K
Willingness to continue learning to ensure understanding of post process
Understanding of how to prioritise and respond accordingly and ability to respond after hours for urgent matters
Proficiency in google suite of apps a bonus (Drive, docs, sheets, slides, etc)
