Nars by Patrick Taylor is an intimate and beautifully crafted short documentary that celebrates Filipino culture and its lineage of exported nurses to the UK, set against the confines of the global Coronavirus pandemic. ‘Nars’ (Filipino-Tagalog for ‘Nurse’) combines scrap-book like collages against Super 8 visuals to illustrate the thoughts, stories and opinions of four UK based Filipino nurses, as they discuss the Philippines’ emphasis on family, care-based culture and their marginalisation within the NHS, as the largest exporter of nurses worldwide.
